- Despite what has been written in
-
- a couple of 64 mags, this is not a
-
- game for gamers. You won't find the
-
- fast action, realistic graphics, or
-
- deadly aliens of other games here.
-
- What you will find is a piece of
-
- software that allows the true
-
- fighter pilot to "zoom and boom" with
-
- the best of them. The graphics are
-
- poor (as compared to, say, "SKYFOX"),
-
- the sound is lacking (compared to
-
- BEACH-HEAD II or GHOSTBUSTERS), but
-
- for a realistic feel of a fighter it
-
- can't be beat!!
-
- Everything about STRIKE-EAGLE is
-
- exactly like it is in real life,
-
- right down to the lessons on flight
-
- maneuvers in the manual. And yes, it
-
- is a flight manual. The lessons on
-
- aerobatics equal the ones I was
-
- taught in basic flight training.
-
- And, unlike FS I or II, if you hit
-
- the ground in this one, you will
-
- crash---yep, you die!! The flares,
-
- chaff and jamming, and evasive
-
- maneuvers work to defeat IR and radar
-
- guided missiles. The bomb-dropping
-
- "pipper" must be on target to score a
-
- hit. One "golden BB" will not kill
-
- an enemy fighter--and the sound of
-
- his death is indeed rewarding!
-
- This is a game not for everyone.
-
- Only the true fighter-pilot at heart
-
- need apply. My best score is
-
- 37,550--but then, I chose the pilot
-
- level, scenerio 7. And I fly
-
- fighters for a living. Surely a
-
- "mere" gamer can't beat that!
-
- Or can you......?
